Waiting

…for you, but you’re very late …for a girl like you …for a star to fall?

There are a lot of song lyrics based on the word waiting. Just saying.

What am I waiting for? Several things, a cure for cancer, Back to the Future style hover boards, flying cars. There are lots of things, some worth waiting for, some just wastes of time and effort.

What are you waiting for? Is it worth it? I hope so.

Fleeting

Just a couple of days ago they were vibrant and colorful, now they are dry.

We can’t stop the march of time. Flowers bloom and then fade. And it happens all too quickly. People grow old and fade and that feels like it happens too quickly. So tell the ones close to you how much they mean to you, because you never know when you won’t get another chance.

Fluffy Slippers

They’re so fluffy!

At the end of the day I’m just putting my feet up and relaxing with my fluffy slippers on.

Today was the Huntsman 140. It is always an emotional day as you write the names of the people you ride for, the people you have lost on the ground at the starting line and then ride 140 miles with others who are left a list of their names at the starting line too.

I’m blessed to have a great group of friends to ride with. It was a pleasure to ride and talk and spend the day with some really great people. One of those really great people gave me the slippers. Thanks, Dana.

It is truly humbling to see all the names and spend time with the people. Sometimes you get to hear their stories, sometimes you get to tell them yours. And you hold them while sometimes they cry or you just hold on, knowing that you share something important, something that can be painful or if you are lucky something that turns out to be a miracle, something to rejoice about.

But now it’s time to rest the legs. For a day or two anyway.

Red Red Roses

Contrary to popular belief, my love is not like this.

It appears that the abundance of rain that we had this spring has led to an abundance of roses right now. That makes them an easy and cheap subject to photograph. With the Huntsman 140 tomorrow, time was at a premium today so I decided to take the low hanging fruit as the subject of today’s photo.

I have a growing list of people that I ride for these days, which makes me sad. But there is a community of people who support those with cancer or those who are dealing with cancer in a support role. I never realized how much that meant to me until the death of my brother.

For anyone reading this, who is dealing with cancer in any way, know that we support you, we grieve with you and celebrate your victories. We hope for a cure and hope for a miracle for all of you.

Zoom Burst

This is what a rose would look like if the Millennium Falcon was the size of a fly.

Just felt like doing a zoom burst photo today. So I shot this rose. It was a long day today and I didn’t get around to it until it was late and cloudy so the effect is more subtle than you often see in a photo like this. I kind of liked how clear it is what is going on in the background but there is enough movement to see the rays from the zoom.

Ballerina

She may look pretty, but her toes… uggh!

I had to make several attempt at this one. Splattering wax doesn’t always do what you want it to do. Especially, if you are clumsy. Or have sensitive fingers when you are holding a hot metal cup of it.

This one was so close to being what I wanted before the stray drop of red wax. Is that a gunshot wound? I’m going with corsage… yeah, that’s it, a corsage.

Let’s just hope she doesn’t get stuck by the pin.
