Some days are like this. You just don’t quite know what it is you’re looking at, but there it is nevertheless.

It’s a simple word but can mean so many things. I’ll leave the interpretation up to you.

Is it odd that I find the old Sunny Delight commercials the closest thing ever to honest advertising. Not because of the flavor of Sunny Delight, however, but because of the description of the drink in the back of the fridge. Purple stuff.

Have you ever had a grape flavored — anything that tasted like grape? They have a similar flavor to each other and they claim to be grape flavored but no one who has ever eaten a grape would be deceived. They taste, well, purple.

In honor of the flavor purple I give you these purple blooms.

Today I found out another friend has cancer. That never makes for a great day. Even though there is good news in cancer research, it never ceases to be devastating news when someone you know gets the diagnosis.

So, this one goes out with love and a lot of hope of a successful treatment and full recovery.

Spent the evening with some friends. They are basically a second family to me. It is amazing how a pretty diverse group like we have has come together as a community that supports each other, sometimes with some pretty hard stuff — cancer, tragedy, sitting on a bike for countless hours. Ok, so some of it isn’t exactly hard stuff it’s more fun.

But it’s nice to have a group of people like that, that are there for you when you need them.

Got out the paints today and messed about painting a butterfly.

Still…

I miss you today. And every day.

It’s like a piece is gone.

Just a relaxing day of paper folding.

I am posting a second post today, because I was having some technical difficulties and wasn’t able to do the other one yesterday. Still sore from riding my bike on Saturday, but I thought I should just post all the crap that you eat all day long when you spend all day riding.

By the end of the first hundred miles, it’s hard to eat solid food (at least for me) and by the end of 200 it’s just hard to want to eat another gel or bar or drink with electrolytes.

In fact, I want to eat real food and not any sweet snacks for the next little while. It’s going to be nice when I can sit down without hurting and stand up without difficulty. I’m hoping to be back to normal in a day or two.
